Enlighten

It has been quite sum time and I had been tightly scheduled to my futile activities, so I decided it’s high time I write this article. Well, there have been many a thoughts, views and writings about human philosophy and our link with almighty. This goes adding to it.

I have been undergoing these thoughts for quite some time, but its changed magnitude due to the bride searching activity in my home for me. Why do people have so much proud in their caste and bring in so much disorder in their life, when it can be so simple.? This has stimulated me to write about it.

Yes, am talking about the differences in people due to their birth. Does birth decide ones character and status? Should a person be judged based on his merit and demerit or his ancestors? I would like to bring in forth the Upanishads and its quote here; it states a person is graded based on this quality of Satya or truthfulness and not on his birth. Similarly Lord Krishna in the Gita describes Varnashrama in terms of Guna, Karma and not on Janma. He describes each Varna in terms of occupations and qualities; this proves none of us can claim to be supreme or great just by birth.

Now let us take the example of Vishwamithra, the Brahma Rishi. He had been a king but later on realized that the worth of being a supreme human does not lie in conquering lands or holding vast wealth. So he cast away his kingdom to become a Brahma Rishi, which he became. This proves the conception, that the bifurcation between individuals was based on their inner qualities and truthfulness and not by birth. Even a king can be a rishi and vice versa. I have seen innumerable examples of persons born in one class (high or low) have given up their qualities or classes and perform the ways of other caste or system.

We no more practice the work which our ancestors did, how could we claim ourselves to belong to a particular caste or creed? Do we do justice to our Vedas? In my previous paragraph I had mentioned Mr. Vishwamithra, so how would people who come under Kousika Gothra claim their caste as? (Kousika is the name of Viswamithra when he was a king) he was a king and then a Brahma Rishi, so what caste can his descendents claim to be?

Another special thing to be noted here is his wife Menaka. She was sent in to interrupt and terminate Viswamithra in his pursuit of becoming a Brahma Rishi, by other jealous rishis like Vasishtar etc. Can we say she belonged to Dev Dasi caste? So ultimately, what can the descendents talk about their caste? We people are a mixture and that is how it should be. Ain’t it?

I have sources telling, every one of us used to be Non Vegetarians, even rishis. There had been times when Non veg was served in feast’s given by Rishi’s. So the conversion into so called Vegetarians came into existence after Buddhism had its encroachment. Let’s not get into this topic now of which is better Veg or Non Veg. ;)…

I would like to bring forth Ramanuja’s philosophy here. He conveys God is the only thing which exists. Everything else is just a manifestation of God. Everything is under his control. God can be one despite the existence of attributes, cos they cannot exist alone; they are not separate entities. We and the world are related to God as the body to its soul. They have no existence without him. They inhere in him, as attributes in a substance. Matter and Soul constitute the body of the Lord. The Lord is their indweller. He is the controlling reality. Matter and Souls are the subordinate elements.

The point I am trying to prove here is, if we believe in God and respect and trust him. We should also be the same with our co inhabitant in this world. Thereby, when we see no difference between us and when we believe all are equal which we are, we should also not differentiate God. Let us understand that an almighty exists beyond existence. Don chase each other to prove your specific belief; do not chase numbers or groups in your belief. Chase him, the Lord, the almighty.

Well, we cover ourselves with cotton clothing’s which suits our climate. While the westerners use woolen, cos that suits their weather condition. But the intention is the same, to cover ourself. Likewise, I name the almighty as X, or X, Y, Z, .while he names the Lord as A or B, but the intention or purpose is the same. The difference is due to the basic fact of geographical deviations. When our people travel abroad they try to influence the westerners in our beliefs while a westerner tries to convert us when he visits us. This is unnecessary if we all truly understand God.

Let us join hands friends, let us unite, having our own faith and following our own faith. Rather getting influenced by others or trying to influence others, please feel the Lord in you. He dwells in you as he in others. Let us believe in us.

Again, am not trying to support socialism or capitalism here. Each tries to support just one part of the human community, either the weak or the strong. I am trying to throw light on every one of us. I am not trying to offend any particular persons or society or caste here. However I would like to have this as a wake up call to all those who hypocritically apply the rules and regulations of their religion or caste to others while disregarding the essential equality of all humans regardless of birth, land, caste, color and sex.

Hope atleast some realize what I am trying to pass along. J J J ….

I'm very, very impressed. Not just with your skills as a writer, but also your ability to express the intangible so beautifully and so clearly. Thank you for putting my beliefs into words :) Amazing post, truly :)

Baggy,

I go with you...Very Simple & Powerful with apt examples...To add up,As per great maharishi's saying "To realize oneself as the pure self is the goal of life as wherever you go,whatever you do & whatever you realize there is one thing existing in all and that is "I" and to remain in that state will give moksha and to realize all other things apart from that "I" is ignorance".As you said to identify oneself with the circumstances relating to one's birth/caste/creed can be simply said as "IGNORANCE" as the concentration is on the object and not on the subject soul("I")...

Warm Regards
Aswin
